Sustainable packaging promise an increase in sales volume

Sustainability is no slogan anymore. International industrial and commercial companies pin their hopes increasingly on sustainable and socially responsible actions. With this strategy they are following also clearly economic interests – to increase the sales volume.

Ecologically conscious consumers are getting more and more sensitive and critical due to the permanent climate discussions. They are increasingly paying attention to the origin of the products and how they are processed, but also to the effects of packaging and transport on the total CO2 emission. For this reason ecologic packaging will influence the purchasing decision of comparable products.

How can packaging manufacturers assist the packing industry to minimize the ecologic footprint?

The most important function of packaging is the protection of the product from the manufacturer to the consumer. To reduce the thickness of material in the sense of sustainability and saving of resources might easily go wrong, says Mr. Hubert Marte. A product that is damaged or spoiled during transport is causing a much higher economic damage than the cost percentage of the packaging is accounting for.

The Austrian corrugated board manufacturers assist the customers with know-how, service and modern production equipment in case of ecological packaging, meeting also the cost/performance ratio – in terms of sustainability.
