The functions of packaging
The international transportation of goods would be unthinkable without efficient packaging. Studies have proved that a large part of all damage caused during transportation could have been avoided by using correct packaging.
Corrugated board transport packaging withstands impact, weight and pressure: fresh strawberries are just as efficiently protected by corrugated board as heavy electrical motors or highly shock-sensitive computers.
About 90% of the corrugated board packaging produced in Austria is for use in transportation.
Efficient and space-saving storage
Limited storage space is therefore used to the best advantage, and corrugated board is very light in weight, which again allows for more space on a lorry.
